The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region earlier announced the “long-term housing arrangement plan for Wang Fuk Court” and, on May 14, 2026, announced that it is progressively issuing “Letters of Offer” to owners of Blocks A to H of Wang Fuk Court.
To ease the related legal expenses of Wang Fuk Court owners, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) announced that it will allocate HKD 10 million from the “Charitable Giving towards the Incident of Wang Fuk Court” to launch a free legal aid service. TWGHs has formally commissioned “Hong Kong and Mainland Legal Professionals Association,” “AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre,” and “International Youth Legal Exchange Federation” to provide free legal aid to Wang Fuk Court owners in need. Under the arrangement, TWGHs will fully cover the legal costs incurred by Wang Fuk Court owners when the above three legal teams handle the sale and purchase agreement and conveyancing/transfer procedures.
The service aims to help Wang Fuk Court owners who accept the scheme obtain timely and appropriate legal services and to reduce the legal costs they may have to bear. It is expected to assist 800 to 1,000 cases, on a first-come, first-served basis. Owners of Blocks A to H of Wang Fuk Court who accept the acquisition offer and wish to use this service must be referred through the “Explanatory Team” and agree to have their personal data (including name and contact telephone number) transferred to TWGHs for application processing. After the Government confirms that the owner of the relevant unit has accepted the acquisition offer, and with the owner’s consent, the case will be referred to TWGHs via the “Explanatory Team” for follow-up. Upon receiving the referral, the legal teams commissioned by TWGHs will contact the owner directly as soon as possible to handle the subsequent legal procedures.
