Exploring the Future of .hk Domain Name Dispute Resolution – 18 November 2025
Mr. Dennis CAI, Deputy Director of AALCO-HKRAC, recently joined the Domain Summit Asia 2025 on 18 November 2025 as a distinguished panel of leading practitioners from Hong Kong and Europe to discuss the evolving landscape of domain name dispute resolution.
During the session, Mr. Cai highlighted key features of the .hk domain name dispute resolution process, which is administered by AALCO-HKRAC. He explained that unlike other systems, the .hk process is a formal arbitration proceeding, resulting in a final and binding arbitral award. This provides rights holders with a robust and legally enforceable mechanism.
Mr. Cai also emphasized the growing appeal of the .hk domain to the international business community, citing Hong Kong’s unique role as a “super connector” in the global economy.
As a newly appointed domain name dispute resolution provider by HKIRC, AALCO-HKRAC will begin handling cases following its appointment in June 2025. We are committed to modernizing dispute resolution through Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) and cutting-edge legal technology, a successful model for resolving trademark-related conflicts.
