The AALCO International Arbitration Masterclass 2025, hosted by the AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre (AALCO-HKRAC), was successfully held on 2 July 2025. This Masterclass brought together a distinguished group of over 50 experienced arbitrators, legal practitioners, and thought leaders for advanced discussions and professional networking focused on the evolving field of international arbitration.

The event was graced by several guests of honour, including H.E. Dr Kamalinne Pinitpuvadol, Secretary-General of AALCO; Dr Horace Cheung Kwok-kwan, SBS, JP, Deputy Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong SAR Government; Mr Sebastian Hughes, Bar Council Member of the Hong Kong Bar Association; and Mr Justin Yuen, Council Member of The Law Society of Hong Kong. Their presence and opening remarks underscored the significance of the Masterclass in promoting professional development and international cooperation in arbitration.

Led by two of the region’s most respected arbitration experts, Prof Christopher To, Arbitrator at AALCO-HKRAC, and Mr Nick Chan, BBS, MH, JP, Director of AALCO-HKRAC, the Masterclass covered a rich curriculum. Through case studies and expert-led sessions, participants explored cutting-edge topics such as interim measures, procedural innovations, and emerging trends in cross-border dispute resolution.

Designed for seasoned arbitration professionals, the programme was open to members of the AALCO-HKRAC Panel of Arbitrators, arbitrators and lawyers with at least five years of post-qualification experience, and those who have handled a substantive number of arbitration cases. All participants who successfully completed the programme and received a certificate of completion and entitles to use the AALCO (Arb) and AALCO (Sports Arb) postnominals, marking a significant milestone in their arbitration careers.

The Masterclass not only served as a platform for gaining practical insights and enhancing technical skills but also fostered meaningful connections among peers, policymakers, and industry leaders in the arbitration community.
