On 2 April 2026, a delegation from the Shenzhen Lawyers Association visited AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre (AALCO-HKRAC). The two sides held in-depth discussions on further strengthening cooperation, promoting the development of foreign-related rule of law, and advancing talent cultivation. This visit represents another important follow-up action to implement shared understandings and deepen collaboration, following the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Hong Kong in December 2023 and in Shenzhen in October 2025.
During the meeting, Mr. Wang Wei, Vice President of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, expressed the hope of further promoting the development of legal services between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and of continuously deepening cooperation in arbitration, mediation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Andy He, Director of the Arbitration Committee, commended AALCO-HKRAC for its positive progress in recent years and highlighted the Centre’s forward-looking initiatives and achievements in emerging areas such as sports arbitration.
Mr. Dennis Cai, Deputy Director of AALCO-HKRAC, provided the delegation with updates on the latest developments of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) and AALCO-HKRAC. He noted that, as Hong Kong’s first and only arbitral institution established under international law, the Centre is playing an increasingly significant and positive role in advancing the international rule of law and arbitration practice.
Both sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on pursuing more practical cooperation in areas such as foreign-related rule of law development, professional capacity building, and joint training programs, reaching a number of preliminary understandings. The exchange laid a solid foundation for further deepening Shenzhen–Hong Kong legal cooperation and supporting the country’s high-standard opening-up to the outside world.
