The 62nd AALCO Annual Session, held in Thailand, brought together diplomats, ministers, and legal experts from 48 member states to focus on international cooperation and sustainable development. This significant event provided a platform to discuss the intersection of asset recovery and sustainable development, emphasising the necessity for robust legal frameworks and international collaboration.

During the Session, member states shared successful experiences in asset recovery, showcasing collaborative efforts in combating corruption and promoting accountability. The discussions underscored that recovered assets could be reinvested in essential public services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure, thereby enhancing the quality of life for citizens and fostering long-term economic growth.

The role of technology in asset recovery was also highlighted. Advances in digital tools and data analytics are transforming how countries track and recover stolen assets. AALCO encourages member states to share innovative technologies to improve the efficiency of asset recovery processes.

This Annual Session signifies AALCO’s ongoing commitment to promoting legal and economic development in the Asia-Africa region. Delegates reaffirmed their dedication to upholding the rule of law and advancing social justice, looking ahead to a future where AALCO will continue to foster dialogue and cooperation in addressing complex legal challenges.
